Social media are very popular in Poland. Research shows that social media are actively and regularly used by about 19 million (i.e. 50% of the society). The most popular ones include: Youtube (92%), Facebook (89%), Instagram (55%). But social media is not only the above mentioned portals. There are many other spaces on the internet where people can share their stuff, comment and and exchange opinions. Read the article to the end and find out what are the lesser known social media.

Linkedin

Linkedin was founded in the year 2000. First of all, it is used for professional contacts and for this reason it is sometimes called “business Facebook”. On the portal you can build your CV, publish job offers, exchange information about your skills. It is a very good place to have discussions on business and professional topics, but not only. Linkedin is a great place for headhunters who are looking for talent or people with specific qualifications.

Lesser known social media – Tumblr

This portal was launched in 2007 and is used to set up microblogs. Users can post in categories: text, photo, video file, gif, link, etc. Tumblr allows you to find people with similar interests or discover unpopular topics. In addition, the portal is used to exchange opinions. In the last two years, the service has lost its popularity.

Pinterest

This service allows you to share visual materials. And its premise is to create a space that functions like an interactive corkboard. Pinterest allows users to save content they like for inspiration or motivation. All items (both your own and those you have collected) can be liked, commented on and also grouped into their own boards.

Flickr was created to collect and share photos. It is a place that photographers often choose to showcase their images to create a portfolio of sorts. Each image can be tagged, as well as geolocated, which allows you to place shots on a special map. The portal also offers the possibility to participate in thematic discussion groups.
