PKD is the Polish Classification of Economic Activities. It is a system that came into force in 2008 and is responsible for classifying economic activities that are carried out by various types of business entities. Each person setting up a business chooses the appropriate PKD, one for the main activity and one for the secondary activity. It is given when filling in the CEIDG-1 application or drawing up the articles of association. It informs about the area of your company’s activity. The whole classification can be found on the GUS website. Read the article to the end and find out more.
Can I enter more than one PKD code?
Yes. Their task is to classify your business. Usually you will need more than one code to describe your activity. On the CEIDG-1 form you can enter nine codes. There is nothing to prevent you from entering more codes. This should be done with the CEIDG-RD attachment. If it is difficult to classify your activity, choose the area that is closest to what you do. Remember that at any time you can update the list of your codes, cross them out or add them. In addition, if you make changes to your business or introduce new services, you should immediately update your list of entries. You should report the changes to the National Court Register or the CEIDG within seven days of their introduction. You can be fined for conducting business outside of your PKD.
What do you need PKD for?
PKD codes have a variety of uses. They are used, among other things, to classify business entities for the purposes of the National Official Business Register (REGON) and to create balance sheets for the national economy. In addition, the data collected is provided for statistical information compilations and comparisons with international data.
Why is PKD so important?
Code selection is very important if you are applying for a grant, subsidy or if you want to participate in tenders. Some funding programs and tenders are targeted at companies that conduct specific activities described by a particular PKD code. Therefore, having the wrong entry can cut you off at the very beginning to get assistance or win a tender.
