The trusted profile is a free tool used to confirm the identity of a citizen. Thanks to it you will handle official matters in public administration services without leaving home. With its help you will obtain a copy of your civil status certificate, report the loss of your identity card, check your penalty points, sign up for an appointment in a ZUS branch or apply for the European Health Insurance Card. Apart from that you will register or suspend your business activity. The profile is valid for three years. It is already used by over 8,1 million Poles. The trusted profile enables to sign a trusted signature, although it is not an electronic signature. Such a signature is valid and has legal effects.
Who can set it up?
If you want to set up a trusted profile you need to meet all the following conditions:
- a valid identity card or passport
- you have or had a Polish ID card
- you have to have a PESEL number
- you have full or limited legal capacity
How to set up?
In order to set up a trusted profile you have to fill in an application and thus set up an account on the website. In the next step you have to confirm your identity. You can do it in few ways:
- online – by logging into your bank
- using an ID card with electronic layer and NFC reader,
- with the help of a qualified signature,
- by coming to one of the 1,500 confirmation points (such points operate in municipalities, county offices, branches of the National Health Fund and post offices).
The fastest and most popular option to confirm identity is to use one’s electronic banking.
Temporary trusted profile
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions, the option to set up a temporary trusted profile was launched on April 23, 2020. This solution is for people who do not have an account with an online banking service or any other tool to certify their identity. This method does not require a visit to a confirmation point. First, fill out an application for a trusted profile. In the next step you will make an appointment for an online video interview with an official. It will take place within the next few days. You will be informed about all the details of the conversation in a message you will receive. All you need to do is to click on the link sent to you at the appointed time of the day. The person who will conduct the interview will ask you to introduce yourself, make a declaration regarding the use of the trusted profile and show your ID. After passing all the steps your profile will be created. Remember, the temporary profile is only valid for 3 months!
